The golf swing has got to be something that just happens, without conscious thought. It is not a bunch of random parts and is way to fast to about think it. How much do you really know about swing a golf club? Confused by all of the different theories about the golf swing and just want to know what will work best for you? I’m guessing the answer is ‘yes’ and you will have to deal with the 5 things below if you want that new golf swing. They may seem obvious, but we all need to be reminded.

Golf Training Aids

What drills and training aids, if any, can help your swing? A golf training aid to help increase distance? Yes. A specific weight training program for golfers? Yes. Stretching for your golf swing, weight training for golfers, and keeping the swing fresh during the winter are all part of the training you will have to do to find the perfect swing.

Swing Simple, Swing Perfect

Most golfers are just looking for a simple way to swing the club that will get good, consistent results. Even the best instructors often overlook important biomechanical laws that can prevent injury and make swinging the golf club a simpler task. The simple secret of visualization and how this secret makes the swing automatic is something that is very interesting to look at when searching for the perfect swing.

Golf Practice Training: Put these 3 in the correct order and you will get ahead

You must be committed to plenty of practice. You know you can make a great practice swing, but why can’t you swing the same way when you hit the ball. If you can simplify the process into sets of routines that, practiced properly, give a clear mental picture to make the swing solid, consistent, and repeatable then you are on your way. The classic golf swing is grooved through practice. Therefore, the key to your success still is called: Practice, Practice, Practice.

Golf Pro Lessons

We pay all that money to play, take lessons and buy training aids, but we still fight our faults. When you’re a beginning golfer getting the right golf tips or lessons to improve your game is critical. Todays technology allows you to experience live golf lessons on your personal computer. Benefit from excellent, detailed video golf lessons, live golf lessons and swing analysis right on your computer.

Golf Teaching Professionals

Instruction can be the missing link if you have a good teaching pro. The majority of professional golfers works as club pros or teaching professionals, and only competes in local competitions. Once people have mastered the “essentials” of a good full swing and are confident with their ball striking, then they may want to work on other parts of the game: Teaching the short game, specialty shots, mental toughness and good course management. PGA professionals go through a tremendous amount of continuing education programs to stay up on the latest teaching techniques.

The golf swing and not the club is the true culprit behind high handicaps. It is probably the single most important aspect of achieving a good game. Are you open to looking at golf and your swing from a different point of view? It’s important to develop the perfect swing around the students capabilities to determine what is the most efficient way for the student to swing the golf club.

There are many options to help you improve. Please don’t get overwhelmed. Pick ONE AT A TIME, stick with it and you will see results.

To learn exactly how to help out your golf swing, go to http://fix-my-golf-swing.blogspot.com where you will find out everything you need to know about the golf swing, how to play free golf, and much, much more!

When you’ve given as many golf lessons as I have, it doesn’t take much thought to figure out that slicing is golf’s most common swing error. In fact, many weekend players who attend my golf instructions sessions for the first time slice, with both men and women slicing about the same amount. And they all want to know one thing when they first come to me: How do I cure my slice?

Curing your slice isn’t easy, especially if you’ve had it for a long time. You’ve ingrained the swing fault in your muscle memory and making changes to it will feel uncomfortable and strange. But the benefits of slicing less far outweigh the costs. Hitting straighter shots more consistently not only keeps you on the fairway, it also cuts strokes from your golf handicap because it produces better approach shots.

Causes Of A Slice The causes for a slice are well documented in magazines and often discussed in golf lessons. Four things trigger a slice:

1. Upper body turns too soon
2. Hands are too high at impact
3. Upper body outraces the club on the downswing
4. Grip end gets too far in front of the clubhead at impact.

These errors leave the clubface open at impact-a major swing error. How major? Recent research by one club manufacturer indicates that a club with an S flex shaft with 9.3 degrees of loft and the face open at impact about 2 degrees results in a shot that finishes 16 degrees off the target line. Obviously, you must get the clubface square at impact to hit the ball straight.

Slices and Cures Let’s look at the four most common types of slice and consider four drills you can practice to help cure your slice. Your divots will tell you what kind of slice you have.

1. Opening Up Too Soon (The Pull Slice) This is perhaps the second most common slice type. Its generated by your right shoulder moving out and over on the downswing, causing the clubface to come into the ball on an outside-in swing path. Your hands sensing that the club is coming from the outside hold the clubface open to the path, resulting in a pull slice. With iron shots your divot points left of target.

Drill: Hit practice balls with your back foot moved back a few inches from the target line and your heel down. Swing the club back making a full shoulder turn. The idea is to feel as if you’re swinging the club primarily with your arms and shoulders through impact. Let your body respond to the swinging of the arms and the releasing of the clubhead.

2. Handle Too High At Impact If your hands are too high at impact just before and through the ball, you’ll cause the clubhead to get stuck behind you. Often this happens because the golfer tries to clear the hips too fast or doesn’t trust the loft of the club to get the ball airborne. Whatever the cause, you end up with a slice. There’s little or not divot with irons.

Drill: Take your normal address position. Have a friend hold a club so the grip hovers just above your hands. As you swing back and through your friend should keep his club’s grip end steady. Concentrate on letting your hand pass just under his club.

3. Body Outraces Club (The Push Slice) With the push slice your ball starts to the right of your target, then goes even farther right. Usually this means that your body outraces the clubhead. Some people call this a lunge. To compensate some people try flipping the club through the ball with their hands in an effort to square the clubface to the ball.

Drill: Use your driver or fairway wood. Tee the ball up. Take your address as you normally would but with your left leg positioned slightly inside the ball. Now stand only on your front foot. Swing the club back and through and try hitting the ball. Alternate hitting five balls on one leg, then with your normal swing. 4. Handle Too Far Ahead Of Ball Getting the handle too far ahead of the clubhead is probably the most common cause of a slice. The primary problem is back of forearms rotation. If you make a strong strike of the ball and it starts straight down the target line before curving to the right. With your irons the divot would be square to the target line.

Starting with knockdown pitches, rotate your left forearm (right-handers) during the swing so your left hand knuckles face the ground just after impact, with the clubface turning down. Let your right hand come off the club. Once you get the hang of this, use other clubs. This drill increases clubhead speed and squares the clubface for a straighter shot.

Keep in mind as you practice these drills that you may not want to turn your slice into a draw. Hitting a fade has its advantages, too. The key, regardless of the type of shot you develop, is hitting a dependable, more consistent shot that keeps you out of trouble and gives you control of the where the ball lands. The type of shot will cut strokes from both your scores and your golf handicap.

Slicing in golf is very common. The reason why we slice the ball even though we feel that the downswing stroke was a good one, stems from a poor setup. If we setup poorly to the ball, this affects every part of the swing. Even though we might be able to compensate with a flick of the wrist, tilt of the waist, delay the release of the hands through the ball, we will never have a consistent swing that results in a consistent ball flight.

A very common symptom of poor set up will result in this scenario.

1st tee off fly straight, 2nd tee off flies right, 3rd tee of flies left, 4th shot flies left again, as we slowly adjust and compensate, the 5th shot flies straight. 6th tee off, the ball flies right again, then we wonder, why???

When we set up poorly or get lazy, the ball really could go anywhere. Without a consistent setup, it is very hard to achieve consistent results.

Here’s today’s golf tip that can help you setup correctly.

Today’s Golf Setup Tip:

When setting up to the ball, the distance from your hand to your inner thigh increases as the club gets longer. So if you’re holding a pitching wedge, in which case, your hands are closer to your inner thigh, if its a 3 iron, this distance increases. This is because longer clubs require us to have a delayed hit on the ball, with the butt of the shaft pointing at the target before we release the club and strike the ball.

So if we’re using a longer club and our hands are too close to our inner thigh, what will happen is we will have an over the top move where the club will come from an out to in path.

I have been golfing since I was 7 years old. My father started by making me custom clubs. He cut the shafts down and even bore out the weight in the wedges and irons for me so I could swing them. By the time I was 10, he started to video tape and study my swing. He was fascinated by what he called my “natural swing” and spent hours studying and trying to duplicate it himself. At this point my love of the game started to fade. Going to the driving range was no longer fun, it started to feel like a classroom. my 20/20 hindsite tells me that if I had any brains I would have stuck with it, become a pro and retired by now, but that’s life! Later in life (when I hit my 20’s) the excitement started to return. I found that it was fun and relaxing to hit the links. I also found that my “natural swing” no longer existed and it might take years just to be as good as I was at age 10. Years of baseball and other sports had completely destroyed my swing and I had a lot of work ahead of me to get that tiny little ball into that tiny little hole 285 yards away!

I had never understood my father’s obsession with different drivers, putters, irons, and wedges, until this point. I know found myself sorting through his 3 main sets of clubs trying out everything I could get me hands on. I loved the Big Bertha . . . that added 40 yards to my drive instantly, and of course his 1968 Ping putter. He says he wants to be buried with it, but I hate to say, when he’s gone, it’s mine! Years later I am completely consumed with trying every new club out there to see if I can shave a couple of strokes off my game. I have even put up a website with the best deals I could find on quality golf products.

Also, when you are looking for deals, try the reputable companies that have a “pre-owned” program. They completely refurbish clubs and resell them at a fraction of the price as the new ones. I have not been able to find anything different in them and it is an exceptional value. Be wary of no name golf sites that tote brand name items. Like anything else on the internet, there are great deals to be found, but always deal with a reputable company. You wouldn’t buy a McDonald’s BigMac from “Joey’s Burgers” so don’t buy a Callaway golf club from “Joey’s Golf Clubs”. Knock offs happen, and it just seems a little too risky for me.

All in all, the game of golf will challenge you every time, with every swing, and on every hole. The right equipment can make a world of difference and doesn’t have to break the bank if you do a little looking. May all you drives be long and straight, and may all your par 3’s be Hole-In-Ones!

It’s a beautiful Saturday morning, you’re on the course, everyone is there to tee off. You tee up the ball, you’re feeling great, you take a couple of practice swings with the driver, you address the ball, swing, contact, everything feels good, the ball flies out 150 yards then it veers to the right 200 yards. Now your out of bounds looking for your ball, everyone else is waiting on you. You stepped in mud, you lost your ball and your great feeling about this beautiful Saturday morning just went down the tubes. Sound familiar? Every golfer has experienced this, so don’t feel like your alone. The difference between you and the others is they got help to stop their slice and enjoy their game.

So what do you? There are several avenues to take to straighten that slice. One way would be to go to a Golf Pro and take expensive lessons. Another way would be to wait until next time, take your friends advice and continue to be frustrated and still in the right rough.

One of the most inexpensive ways would be to find e-books that will give you sound advise on the type of grip to hold your club with, the stance you have at the ball and your swing at the ball. You can also find different type of clubs to use and different type balls to use.

Usually it takes an e-book that you can load on to your computer, then download it to a CD, and take it to the range with you. You can than take the lessons you have and learn how to straighten that slice. You can purchase these books for about the cost of a round of golf.

Don’t be frustrated any longer. Learn at our own pace and shock your golf partners. I hope this helps you to be one of the few golfers out there on Saturday with a smile on your face, standing in the middle of the fairway waiting on your buddies to get out of the rough and cleaning off their shoes.

Great Golfing!

Need more information “how pro golfers play golf inbounds” It’s time to take action. Go online and Google “golfers straighten your slice” and check out the e-books.
